The (*) in front of a dogs name means that it has been Breed Surveyed by a G.S.D. judge which has a Championship Judges license and has gone and done extended examinations tests over a few years, so that the Breed Surveyor has not only conformation knowledge but he/she also has a knowledge of all bloodlines in a Australia and the faults and virtues that the animals may possess.
Cl. 1. Means it is far above the average conformation standard.
Cl. 11. Means above average conformation standard.
'a' Means it has passed its hip x-rays in Germany.
'A' Means it has passed its hip x-rays in Australia.
'Z' Means it has passed its Elbows x-rays in Australia.
H- Neg. Means the male dog has been tested and cleared for Hemophilia.
There can also be other letters behind a dogs name e.g. C.D., C.D.X., etc. These are some of the obedience titles that can be gained in Australia.

SOME INFORMATION ON GRADINGS GIVEN AT G.S.D.C.A.Inc. NATIONAL & CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS & RESTRICTED OBEDIENCE TRIALS

The following Gradings may be awarded to exhibits in Conformation and or Obedience classes at the judges discretion.
Class Description- SHOW.

PROMISING / VERY PROMISING, -To exhibits under 12 months of age entered in BABY, MINOR and PUPPY classes.
GOOD / VERY GOOD, -To exhibits 12 months of age and over entered in JUNIOR, INTERMEDIATE and OPEN.
EXCELLENT and G.S.D.C.A. MEDALLION to exhibits 24 months and over, entered in OPEN class, that have been classified Class 1 or 11 under the G.S.D.C.A. Breed Survey Scheme.

DUAL TROPHY.
The Dual Performance Trophy is presented to a dog or bitch that has a qualifying score in obedience and achieves the highest Grading / Placing in a Conformation class.

OBEDIENCE CLASSES.
The usual obedience classes held at G.S.D.C.A.inc. National or Championship show & Restricted Obedience Trial are Novice Dog, Novice Bitch, Open Dog, Open Bitch, Utility Dog & Utility Bitch. The Gradings available for qualifying scores in these classes are GOOD, for scores from 170 to 179, VERY GOOD, for scores from 180 to 189, EXCELLENT, (Obedience Medal) for scores from 190 to 200.

SOME INFORMATION ON GRADINGS AT MAIN BREED EXHIBITION & RESTRICTED OBEDIENCE TRIALS

The following Gradings may be awarded to exhibits in Conformation and/or Obedience classes at the judges discretion.
Class Description.

OPEN CLASS
This class is only open to animals who are two (2) years of age and over. The Gradings in this class include - EXCELLENT SELECT, EXCELLENT, VERY GOOD, GOOD. To be eligible for the award of "Excellent Select," an exhibit must be classified at Breed Survey and possess an 'a' or 'A' stamp for hips, and 'Z' stamp for elbows.

INTERMEDIATE CLASS.
This class is only open to animals whose ages are 18 months to one day less than 24 months. The Gradings in this class include: VERY GOOD MERIT, VERY GOOD, GOOD. To be considered for the "Very Good Merit," grading, an exhibit must possess both anatomical and breeding attributes which are, in the opinion of the judge, considered to be far above the average.

JUNIOR CLASS.
This class is only open to animals whose ages are 12 months to one day less than 18 months. The Gradings available in this class are: VERY GOOD, GOOD.

PUPPY
This class is only open to animals whose ages are 9 months and one day less than 18 months. The Gradings available in this class are: VERY PROMISING, PROMISING.

MINOR PUPPY CLASS.
This class is only open to animals whose ages are 6 months and one day less than 9 months. The Gradings available in this class are: VERY PROMISING, PROMISING.

BABY PUPPY CLASS.
This class is only open to animals whose ages are 4 months and one day less than 6 months. The Gradings available in this class are: VERY PROMISING, PROMISING.
